Frequently Asked Questions
What is sold at the SVdP Thrift Store? The SVdP Thrift Store sells a variety of previously owned items including men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories, along with furniture, household goods, kitchen supplies and small appliances, decor, books, music and other entertainment items. Our stock changes regularly and new items are placed on the floor daily. The best way to see what’s in the store is to visit our location at 1311 3rd St NE in Ruskin, FL
Why should I shop at the SVdP Thrift Store? All proceeds from retail purchases fund programs and services for individuals and families in need in your own neighborhood.
Does the SVdP Thrift Store only sell used items? While 100% of the SVdP Thrift Store stock comes from donated, previously owned goods, not all of the items are used. We often receive donations of brand-new items with tags still attached. Stock will depend on recent donations.
Do you sell vintage and specialty items? Shoppers at the SVdP Thrift Store often find unique and uncommon goods, such as valuable artwork, classic antiques, vintage fashion, and special collectibles.
How does the SVdP Thrift Store determine the value or price of items? All goods sold at the SVdP Thrift Store are offered at fair bargain prices. There is a range of factors that influence how we price our items: quality and condition, seasonality, style, brand and rarity, and research. However, most of our clothing, books and entertainment items are sold at a set price according to their category, depending on the style or type of item.
What does the SVdP Thrift Store do with donations they can't use in the store? The SVdP Thrift Store works to recycle and donate leftover goods. Additionally, we incur a cost whenever someone gives us items that cannot be sold, recycled or donated. That’s why items in fair or better condition are greatly appreciated!
How else does my purchase benefit the community? According to the Environmental Protection Agency, Americans generate about 200-250 million tons of trash each year—about 4.6 pounds per person per day. By purchasing from and donating your goods to the SVdP Thrift Store, you’re not only helping your neighbors in need, but you are also preventing unnecessary waste from entering our landfills. Additionally, your money will also be staying local to help the neighbors in your own back yard. Shop local. Support local.
